Jenelle Evans had an appendectomy Monday.
But when her boyfriend Nathan Griffith tweeted a picture of the Teen Mom 2 star with bandages and IVs in a hospital bed, some social media users assumed she was being treated for a heroin overdose.
From Jenelle's Twitter handle, Nathan explained that "a lot of people were blowing up her phone" which is why he posted the troubling photo in the first place. He quickly found, however, that not everyone believed she'd had emergency surgery to remove her appendix.

When the MTV star woke up from surgery, she hopped back on Twitter and saw firsthand what some people had to say. One tweeter called her appendectomy "a lie," saying that her "bandages are not on the correct side of the body. She was in for detox." Jenelle responded, promising—and then delivering—hospital papers that would set the record straight.
The medical documents posted by Jenelle appeared to confirm she had an appendectomy, but some users continued to question the reason behind her hospitallization.
"u don't have to believe me but this is how they do surgery now for appendix," she fired back. "Like I said hospital documentation doesn't lie"

When one tweeter accused Jenelle of experiencing #heroinwithdrawal, she responded, "oh yeah everyone gets surgery for heroin withdrawals now in days.... LMFAO." That said, Jenelle admitted to being "really upset by these comments."
The mom of one has struggled with substance abuse in the past. She voluntarily checked into rehab for drug abuse this past March. In April, however, she was arrested for alleged possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia plus allegedly assaulting husband Courtland Rogers. She was released the morning after her arrest on bond.
It remains unclear how MTV will handle Jenelle's ups and downs during the upcoming, currently-filming season of Teen Mom 2.
