Michael Douglas & Catherine Zeta-Jones separate after 13 years

After 13 years of marriage, actor Michael Douglas, 68, and wife actress Catherine Zeta-Jones, 43, have separated. A rep for the couple released a statement today confirming the separation.

"Catherine and Michael are taking some time apart to evaluate and work on their marriage. There will be no further comment." The rep said

Michael and Catherine got married in 2000 and have two children together, Dylan, 13, and Carys, 10.

Teenager flies Arik Air from Benin to Lagos hiding in tyre hole

A teenager named Daniel Ikehina unbelievably beat airline and airport security at the Benin airport today Saturday August 24th and sneaked into the tyre compartment of a Lagos-bound Arik flight. The boy flew safely with the aircraft which left Benin around 9am today and landed at Murtala Muhammed airport, hidden throughout in the undercarriage. He was immediately arrested by airport security after passengers saw him emerging from the aircraft tyre hole.

TMZ broke the story, Lamar has gone off the rails with drug use ... which is the principal cause of the crisis in his marriage to Khloe Kardashian. As we reported Lamar went to a rehab facility a year ago this month and stayed for 3 weeks before bailing -- and we're told the problem was crack. Sources say Lamar's crack use was extreme before he went to rehab, but he cleaned up his act during the basketball season that just ended.  Sources say shortly after he hung up his jersey, he started again with a bang. As we reported ... Khloe threw Lamar out of the house a few days ago after he rejected an attempt at an intervention. It's unclear how Lamar's problem will affect his basketball career.

Lawyer and Human Rights Activist, Mike Ozekhome Kidnapped

Prominent lawyer and human rights activist Mike Ozekhome SAN was kidnapped with his driver last  Friday night  August 23rd along the Benin-Auchi road in Edo state. Edo state commissioner of police Mr Foluso Adebanjo said four policemen attached to the lawyer were also killed. The kidnappers are yet to contact his family or business associates.

We have been hearing that Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom's marriage is in crisis but the core reason behind this according to TMZ is Lamar's 'hardcore drug abuse' and not the infidelities.

Lamar has had a problem for 2 years.  It got so bad, last August Khloe pressured Lamar to go to rehab.  Lamar went to a facility in San Diego, but he was so resistant Khloe hired private investigators to secretly stand guard at the rehab place to make sure he didn't leave.

The death has been announced of Prophet Elijah Iretiola Ajanaku whose death was confirmed by a team of doctors on Thursday night after several vigil of prayers sinceSaturday evening when his health deteriorated. Prophet Ajanaku who hailed from the Owo Ope family in Gbongan is survived by his wife, Joy and two  children, Stella and Apotieri. His remains has been deposited at the Military Mortuary, Yaba, Lagos.

Though he was born a Moslem over 40 years ago in Gbongan, he moved to Lagos in the 90s and settled in Ipaja Ayobo area where he acquired skills in many vocations and engaged in several trades before his encounter with God. He founded and shepherded the Christ Revival Victory Chapel International, Ayobo, Ipaja, Lagos and rose to become the President of The Ajanaku World Outreach, a ministry devoted to the spread of the gospel outside the church. His last mission unaccomplished was Idoani For Christ, slated for September 30 and October 1, 2013 in Idoani, Ondo State. Until his death, he was a widely travelled evangelist with remarkable crusades and prophetic healings around the world. Burial arrangements will be announced by the family and the church soon.

Veteran musician Bongos Ikwue appointed board chairman of NFC

Kanayo O Kanayo is not the only entertainer to get an appointment from the presidency. Veteran musician and creator of the soundtrack of popular 80's TV drama series - Cock Crow at Dawn, Bongos Ikwue, also did. He has been appointed the new chairman of the board of the Nigerian Film Corporation by President Goodluck Jonathan.

OMG! Prison Break actor Wentworth Miller comes out as gay

Sorry ladies, we've lost another hot one to the men. Damn! Who would have thot it? Anyone surprised he's gay? Wentworth, who played the lead character Michael Scofield in Prison Break came out as a gay man on Wednesday August 21 via an open letter to the Saint Petersburg Film Festival, rejecting an invitation to attend a premiere there because of Russia's recently-passed anti-gay laws.

The  41-year-old actor wrote:

Thank you for your kind invitation. As someone who has enjoyed visiting Russia in the past and can also claim a degree of Russian ancestry, it would make me happy to say yes. However, as a gay man, I must decline.

I am deeply troubled by the current attitude toward and treatment of gay men and women by the Russian government. The situation is in no way acceptable, and I cannot in good conscience participate in a celebratory occasion hosted by a country where people like myself are being systematically denied their basic right to live and love openly.

Perhaps, when and if circumstances improve, I'll be free to make a different choice.

The policewoman caught on tape demanding bribe has been arrested

The police woman filmed demanding N100 bribe from a commercial bus driver  has been arrested, this is according to the Lagos State police command. 

“We have arrested her and she is presently in custody. She will be made to undergo an orderly room trial and the outcome will be made public,’’ The Public Relations Officer of the State Police Command, Ngozi Braide, said.

The command didn't provide the police woman's name or the station she was attached.

Bola Tinubu recuperates after knee surgery in the US

Former Governor of Lagos State and leading founder of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has been absent from public engagements in the past few weeks. He sent out a statement in early August explaining that he would be traveling out of the country for knee surgery.

"Based on a previous sports injury on one of his knees and recent further aggravation on the knee from rigorous political and family related activities, he has been advised by his doctors, despite his persistent reluctance, that orthopedic surgery is necessary at this time.

The week of the 5th of August has been slated for the surgery. Governor Tinubu is expected to resume his normal political activities and public engagements following clearance from his doctors." The statement read

Tinubu has since had the surgery in a hospital in the US and is said to be recuperating. 

MTN loses big in Mobile Number Portability scheme

According to the Director of Public Affairs of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Mr Tony Ojobo, almost half of MTN subscribers switched to other networks during the recently introduced Mobile Number Portability (MNP) scheme.

According to figures released by Mr Ojobo, MTN topped the losers table among an overall number of subscribers that switched service providers in the telecoms market with 49%; followed by Globacom with 23%; Airtel with 17%; while Etisalat came last on the losers’ table with 11%. Which means Etisalat emerged top in the number porting scheme among the telecoms company. Wow!

After dating for almost a year and a half, actress Monalisa Chinda and business man Lanre Nzeribe have called it quits and this is authoritative. According to sources close to the actress, Monalisa walked out of the relationship about a month ago. That makes him 25. Kaffy DanceQueen was born in 1980, which means she's eight years older than her boo.

Lagos state government rescues 25 children from alleged trafficker

The Lagos State Government has rescued 25 children from an alleged child trafficker in the Egbeda area of the state, according to a story by Punch

The suspected trafficker, Mrs. Rosemary Nwachukwu (pictured right), was also arrested and has been handed over to the Alausa Police Division, while the children are currently in government’s custody.

The government accused Nwachukwu of operating an illegal orphanage named, Saint Stephen Charity Foundation, on Abiodun Adebanbo Street, Egbeda.

It was gathered that officials from the Office of Youth and Social Department, led by the Director, Child Development, Mrs. Alaba Fadairo, in conjunction with personnel from the Office of Public Defender and policemen, stormed the orphanage on Saturday.

The government said findings showed that the suspect was using the orphanage as a front for another illegal business.

The Director, OPD, Mrs. Omotola Rotimi, said of the children, whose ages ranged from three months to 12 years, were victims of human trafficking.

Rotimi said, “It was discovered upon investigation that Nwachukwu trafficked 27 children and kept them in a room. We were able to rescue three infants of ages three to six months and 22 other children. Efforts are still on to locate the remaining two.”

The OPD director added that the suspect used the victims for financial gains by putting them up for adoption. She said the suspect would be charged to court after investigations had been concluded.

However, Fadairo, said, “Investigation also shows that there are no records of each child and no evidence of how the children got to her orphanage. No police or security report.”
